Our dual diagnosis approach to treatment has been proven as a key to successful recovery. Through our co-occurring clinical and psychological treatment coupled with our residential and outpatient treatment programs, clients suffering from substance abuse and mental health issues ranging from anxiety and depression to bipolar disorder and PTSD are finding the strength to end addiction and begin a new healthy life in recovery.

The Foundations Recovery Network Difference
FRN specializes in the treatment of co-occurring disorders with our proven, comprehensive treatment model, which has been tested and proven through 11 federally-funded research studies. This model demonstrated twice the success rate for continuing sobriety one year post-treatment compared to the national average of traditional programs.
We attribute our success to our approach, which includes:
- Integrated Treatment – All behavioral health and addictions needs can be addressed in one setting, with a team of experts including psychiatrists, social workers, nurses and licensed alcohol and drug counselors each lending their expertise.
- Client Directed Treatment – Clients are treated as partners in, rather than subjects of, the recovery process. As such, they are encouraged to determine the pace, goals and course of treatment.
- Motivational Approaches – Our clinical staff is trained to use motivational enhancement strategies to engage clients. This field-tested method of implementing client directed services maximizes client engagement and avoids use of outdated confrontational strategies.
- Trained Staff – Our entire team is taught to deliver evidence-based practices of care through classroom and applied studies.
- Client Recovery Workbook Series – A proprietary product developed by us based upon evidence-based practices and our own experiences in treatment, these workbooks provide clients with comprehensive integrated information about how to maximize their recovery experience.
There is a difference when it comes to treatment programs, and no program has been proven more compassionate, flexible or effective. With a highly experienced and caring staff, comprehensive treatment facilities and a long-term commitment to helping those with drug and alcohol addictions, FRN provides a full scope of services to meet the needs of persons with co-occurring conditions. Combining our research-based innovations with emerging evidence-based practices, we offer some of the lowest dropout rates in the industry.
For many, pursuing substance abuse treatment far from home in Illinois provides a clean slate and fewer distractions. We are a national company with programs across several states. Our residential treatment facilities include The Canyon, Michael’s House and La Paloma Treatment Center.
For those not in need of residential care, our primary outpatient program, Foundations Atlanta, offers comprehensive care without the need to be away from home.

Illinois: An Ongoing Drug Problem
Illinois is known for manufacturing and agriculture as well as the shining metropolis of Chicago, aka the Windy City. It’s also a state, like so many others, that is battling a drug problem. More than 1 million Illinois residents admitted to a dependence on or abuse of illicit drugs or alcohol in the past year, according to the latest National Survey on Drug Use and Health. Of those who were drug- or alcohol-dependent, 241,000 needed but did not receive treatment.
Chicago is the major transportation hub and distribution center for illegal drugs throughout the Midwest, with Chicago-based street gangs controlling the distribution and retail sale of cocaine, heroin and marijuana. Crack cocaine abuse is the most serious drug problem in Illinois, particularly in Chicago and other urban areas, with treatment admissions for the drug nearly doubling in the past 20 years in this region. Heroin has the dubious honor of being the second biggest drug threat in Illinois, with new suburban users contributing to the drug’s resurgence in popularity. Meanwhile, marijuana remains the most widely-abused drug in Illinois, perhaps due to is wide availability and that its seen as less dangerous than other drugs. The misuse of legal pharmaceuticals is also becoming a significant problem in Illinois. The ADD drug Ritalin along with prescription painkillers like OxyContin continue to grow in popularity.
