Our dual diagnosis approach to treatment has been proven as a key to successful recovery. Through our co-occurring clinical and psychological treatment coupled with our residential and outpatient treatment programs, clients suffering from substance abuse and mental health issues ranging from obsessive compulsive disorder and depression to bipolar and PTSD are finding the strength to end addiction and begin a new healthy life in recovery.

Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders

FRN specializes in the treatment of co-occurring disorders with our proven, comprehensive treatment model, which has been tested and proven through 11 federally-funded research studies. This model demonstrated twice the success rate for continuing sobriety one year post-treatment compared to the national average of traditional programs.

The Foundations Recovery Network Difference

FRN specializes in the treatment of co-occurring disorders with our proven, comprehensive treatment model, which has been tested and proven through 11 federally-funded research studies. This model demonstrated twice the success rate for continuing sobriety one year post-treatment compared to the national average of traditional programs.

We attribute our success to our approach, which includes:

  • Motivational Approaches – Our clinical staff is trained to use motivational enhancement strategies to engage clients. This field-tested method of implementing client directed services maximizes client engagement and avoids use of outdated confrontational strategies.
  • Integrated Treatment – All behavioral health and addictions needs can be addressed in one setting, with a team of experts including psychiatrists, social workers, nurses and licensed alcohol and drug counselors each lending their expertise.
  • Client Directed Treatment – Clients are treated as partners in, rather than subjects of, the recovery process. As such, they are encouraged to determine the pace, goals and course of treatment.
  • Motivational Approaches – Our clinical staff is trained to use motivational enhancement strategies to engage clients. This field-tested method of implementing client directed services maximizes client engagement and avoids use of outdated confrontational strategies.
  • Trained Staff – Our entire team is taught to deliver evidence-based practices of care through classroom and applied studies.
  • Client Recovery Workbook Series – A proprietary product developed by us based upon evidence-based practices and our own experiences in treatment, these workbooks provide clients with comprehensive integrated information about how to maximize their recovery experience.

FRN staffThere is a difference when it comes to treatment programs, and no program has been proven more compassionate, flexible or effective. With a highly experienced and caring staff, comprehensive treatment facilities and a long-term commitment to helping those with drug and alcohol addictions, FRN provides a full scope of services to meet the needs of persons with co-occurring conditions. Combining our research-based innovations with emerging evidence-based practices, we offer some of the lowest dropout rates in the industry.

We are a national company with programs across several states, including two residential treatment facilities in California. The Canyon in Malibu, CA and Michael’s House in Palm Springs, CA are both great options for holistic treatment.

For those looking for treatment farther from home in California, La Paloma in Memphis, Tennessee, provides a great option without the distractions and triggers of an area that’s familiar.

Those not in need of residential care can opt for our primary outpatient program, Foundations Atlanta, which offers comprehensive care without the need to be away from home.

An Ongoing Drug Problem in California

Much of the drug-related news coming from California (CA) lately seems to be focused on the push to legalize marijuana, but the issue is much broader than that. There are approximately 2,832,000 Golden State residents who admitted to a dependence on or abuse of illicit drugs or alcohol in the past year, according to the latest National Survey on Drug Use and Health. The NSDUH study also reports that of those who were drug- or alcohol-dependent in California, 764,000 needed but did not receive treatment.

When it comes to the drug problem in California, substances like cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana are smuggled into the state from Mexico. But they don’t need to rely on sources outside of the state. Methamphetamine and marijuana are produced or cultivated in large quantities within California. Although the northern half of California is awash in methamphetamine in more rural areas, heroin remains the number one drug of abuse in San Francisco. Heroin and crack cocaine continue to impact Oakland, and methamphetamine continues in and around Sacramento.

Methamphetamine is the primary illegal drug threat in California, but misuse of legal substances like opioids found in prescription painkillers like Vicodin are creating a new class of addicts. Cocaine is also readily available throughout the state and widely available in San Francisco and other areas of northern California. The increased availability of high purity heroin that can be snorted has allowed a new, younger population to use heroin without a syringe and needle. Drug treatment specialists note that these new heroin users ingest large amounts of heroin and become quickly addicted. On a positive note, club drugs may be on the decline, although LSD remains readily available throughout the Los Angeles area. Then there’s marijuana, which remains the most widely available and abused illicit substance in California.
